ParticipantI played Millbrook in Queenstown this week. Some reviews online call it a resort course and a bit easy. But they are preparing for NZ Open and it was anything but. 8 inch thick thick rough anywhere of the fairway and often just next to the green made it really tough. Spectacular scenery. Beautiful condition. Great course.

ParticipantMaybe play a practice round with couple of balls. One ball you consistently go for it. The other you consistently lay up. See which scores better. Even have a third in between sensible but not overly safe ball too. My understanding is that this third ball is often the best.

ParticipantDon’t know if this has been mentioned, but is there a “I don’t want to read these posts – mark as read” type function? Otherwise you either have to open every one or leave an annoying unread tab there. Does my Petty little head in. But it is useful sometimes to just flush and then see the new stuff

ParticipantAs we discussed RW will punish you if you are offline off the tee. And the greens and surrounds are hard too. How did you go yesterday?
Well, the conclusion was I needed a beer and a calculator.
But, I’m surprisingly not that disappointed…. I was nursing my lower back for the round after it “locked” and “let go” just as I had picked up Driver to warm up. Irons on the warm up were going great, but after the back “clunk” it was never going to be pretty. I wasn’t going to push it and do damage…
Having been working on using my lower body to drive the swing over the past few weeks, it was a bummer I didn’t get to test it ‘on course’ today.
I really didn’t have feel for short game or putting either. It was just an all round grind, and nothing really came together.
A net 86 OTS was the final tally. Yes, that’s right, NET.

ParticipantIf I can just not blow a gasket. I dream of a car for a hole in one prize. ?
As our soon to be
InternationalTrans Tasman golfer, I’d just like to take full credit for showing you what NOT to do.Do everything you did on the back nine today and you’ll be bringing home a new car.
You ARE playing for new car, aren’t you?

ParticipantVery quiet Xmas. Just Mrs Toph and our 2 boys. Early Jan 1st off to Tokyo then skiing in Japan. Sounds glamorous but first holiday for 12 months. It’s been a bit of a tough 2 years business wise. I hope 2020 is better but it’s all up to me. It then I’m The Toph.

ParticipantStaff Xmas party Saturday. Maybe next weekend or Friday arvo??
Hmmm if I remember you chipped in on one hole and put a sandie to about 2 inches on another. Your short game looking pretty……pretty
Well, Toph, I reckon the lessons and practice are paying off for you!
You hit some good steady shots for the 6 holes today to be 2 over for 4 holes .. including the birdie on 4.
We won’t mention the post birdie adrenaline rush!
And, hit the flag stick on another chip (first hole) …
But, that’s all irrelevant really.
When are we going to play there again?
