    You’re on!!
Name your price and we’ll do this

Oh God! What have I done now!!

Okay, a couple of swing thoughts for your irons:

    Don’t SHANK it!

    Don’t BLADE this wedge!

    Does that help? You’re welcome.

Played rubbish at Indooroopilly President’s (Red Blue) course today. 28 points off 11. The greens were in very poor condition 5 weeks after being scarified which didn’t help me, but I played pretty poorly too.

    1 birdie 6 pars 3 bogies 7 doubles 1 triple

5/14 fairways – dropped 2 shots with driver which was otherwise pretty good, and 1 with a 3h that found the water at 240m straight down the middle of the fairway on red 7.

4 GIR – dropped 3 shots from bad wedges again, 1 from a bad punch and 1 from a fat bunker shot. Didn’t hit the ball badly overall but paid for every mistake today fully.

3/26 up and downs (not a typo) – 11 shots dropped with the thin lob wedge popping up about 5 times costing me 4 shots. Thinned a SW bunker shot which cost me 2 shots. 2 PW chips were decent shots but not down. LW lob and LW bunker shots were very good as both were short sided, but not down.

31 putts – missed 1 short putt but otherwise wasn’t too bad. But reading where the ball would bounce around on its way to the hole was a challenge.

I’m about to see my 4 Nats flags hit the bottom of my 20 so I could start shooting up again.

Good to see we are both hitting our straps at the same time. Might make for an interesting contest in a few weeks time. And, that upstart Bump will come along fresh from no golf and spank the pair of us – maybe a better ball match of us against his nibs might give us some hope.

The other game was a lock too, until my mate had his kid’s party three weeks after her birthday.
    I mean who does that?!?

I’m in some good form at the moment too.
I only missed 2 fairways at Glades, which was my warm up game for Thursday.
That will then be a continued run into my future home course where the game really counts.
It will be my best game there by a long way.

I will be coming off five weeks on the abstinence wagon on the 7th, so should be in real good shape for morning golf on the 9th. Have I mentioned I don’t like morning golf…..multiple times……oh, okay I’ll be there. Just make sure someone reminds me the week before to get the names down for as late as possible in the a.m. Looking forward to catching up then.

Finished with 19 front and 18 back at Redcliffe off 12, which was good enough to win our group of 14

    3 birdies 6 pars 5 bogies 3 doubles 1 triple

9/14 fairways – apart from holes 14 15 and 16 where it went AWOL and cost me 2 shots the driver was very solid today – a nice gentle fade most of the time which suits Redcliffe. Also dropped a shot from a poor chip out that left me needing another after the bad drive on 15.

6 GIR – a slightly disappointing number given the number of fairways hit but I also had 6 others that were quite close so not too bad. Only real shockers were a 6i on 9 that still left a reasonable chip but should have been better. Only dropped shot from a full swing was a 5i that hit a tree but that was after a bad topped drive and average mini driver on 16 left me trying to thread it between the trees.

6/12 up and downs – 50% isn’t too bad but given 6 of them were Texas wedges it should have been a bit better. Not too bad though.

33 putts – 4 3 putts but also dropped 2 long ones including one for birdie made up a little for it. Should have been 2 better after the first 2 holes if the putter played nicely. Lagged some long ones nice and close which was good but 4 is too many 3 putts even if you have quite a few long ones.

Overall played well and got down to 11.7 which is a 0.6 drop – finally. Redcliffe was is excellent condition especially given the water situation up here. Always enjoy what is a very good layout.

Ocean Shores Back Marker on Friday will be a real test.

How come you’ve got the Friday off? We could have played The Flats – all guest days days this time of year……oh well next year.

    Work closes this week
And next week too actually but us accountants have to go back and do year end on 30 and 31st

    You on leave?

    Only until next Monday, unfortunately.

I could probably arrange an equipment review regular forum, not by me, by a group of pros at a local golf complex. Do you think that might be of interest? I know that i trawl through other sites regularly just out of curiosity. Maybe others feel the same way.

Don’t know why ‘we’ can’t keep a lot of what worked before – unless there are legal issues. Not that any of the forum titles over where we came from aren’t everyday common words.

Must say I’m finding this site less than user friendly – I guess familiarity breeds contempt.

    That’s good information thanks Hack
We traditionally bring a few old worthless balls down to hit into the abyss of the range – good to know you can buy a bucket now

I’ll check with the guys what time we will aim to get there and see what we can organise for a hello – would be good to meet

Well the good news is they got a drenching today! Can only help with possibly a little more on the way.

Played at Meadowbrook today with Brisbane Fairways – we played 10 to 29

Put my Australian Blade Maxfli irons into the bag – out went the R11s – replacing 5 to gap with 4 to pitching

Started great with my second shot into the par 5 10th with 5i from 185m downhill – my first ever swing in competition with the blades – to 1 ft and dropped my first ever putted eagle! 2 under after 1!

Couldn’t maintain that momentum though as my Texas game was not up to the challenge of slow surrounds and slow greens and I ended up well short every time. Had a run of 10 bogies in a row from 11 to 20 with only 1 GIR for my only 3 putt for the day.

Finished 42 41 for 11 over 43 which was played to my handicap but a low DSR meant a played to 14.4 and a handicap slide of 0 2 from 11.1 to 11.3.

    1 eagle 1 birdie 3 pars 12 bogies 1 double

6/14 fairways – drove ok and only dropped a shot off the tee from a toed 4h into a tree

4 GIR – not many but had 7 Texas so wasn’t missing by huge margins a lot of the time. Dropped 3 shots from a poor 4h push and 2 short wedge shots.

4/14 up and down – 9 over short game – 2/8 Texas and 2/5 PW (also 0/1 8i but penalty was the preceding 4h that left me well right under a tree)

31 putts + 8 Texas – 1 3 putt and did drop some good second putts and a long birdie putt. But from off I couldn’t give it the amount of speed that it needed to get through the green grass around the greens

The Australian Blades will be staying in the bag for a bit longer. Hit full shots with all of them except the 8i today and they performed quite well.

Either camping or Redcliffe next weekend – to be determined

Bet you were nervous over the eagle putt…….

Garth was scathing about the new layout, but yes I’d still love to have a look.

Actually, I think Garth might be onto something. Doak gets great pieces of land, then builds wacky greens’ complexes, and all the slavish swooners go gaga over it………but he is the Messiah to some.
