ParticipantFinally a decent round at a damp Maroochy River
Despite 150mm of rain the course was very playable
But unusually the greens were very receptive – they are usually the firmest we play – and the wind wasn’t blowing too hard so that helped scoring3 bogies and 6 pars for a 39 front
2 weak shots on 10 left me short right in some pretty soggy ground and my attempted LW chip went under the ball which popped up right into the path of my follow through which sent the ball sailing high and landing softly about 6 ft from the pin and a good putt meant a lucky par to start the back nine
More pars and then a birdie on 14 meant I was 1 under for the back nine standing on the tee on 17 but a pushed drive that hit the path and catapulted into the water and a 3 putt meant a double and that was the end of my chance to have a 9 hole score under par – I’ve had a few on par but never below
Almost birdied the last but ended 1 over for the back so 4 over 76Down to 8.9
You can do it Weetie!
Thanks Mads
If I can start playing close to that level consistently then I might be able to move from a telescope into binoculars!
You definitely have the skill.
What “feelings” on the day can you take away and try to emulate for future rounds?
Probably 2 things
Feeling the pressure in my left foot – helps stop me getting stuck on my right foot
And having that picture in my mind of the ball rolling to my aim point when putting1 user liked this post.

Well done young fella:)
Thanks mate
I so would have liked to have made that sub par 9 – but no complaints for sure
This is how I’d like to play golf
Hills next week – see if I can at least keep it at handicap which will be 101 user liked this post.

ParticipantPlayed Gainsborough Greens off 8 today
Didn’t feel like I played very well but 2 birdies covered some flaws and I ended up with 9 over 81 for 35 pointsHandicap dropped to 9.4
Putted fine which was a nice change – both birdies were longish putts
Only 3/11 up and downs was disappointing
Some poor iron shots cost me
Only 1 dropped shot off the tee although I did have a little luck on 1 drive, but a bit of bad luck on others tested the approach gamePacific Harbour next weekend will definitely test the golf game
It’s a brute if you aren’t striking it wellWeetbix
ParticipantCrappy round at Emerald Lakes on Sunday off 6
3 doubles were the worst scores but didn’t hit greens and didn’t make many up and downs so bogey train most of the day
24 points and 90 off the stick in heavy gusty winds was middle of the pack for the day
+3 difficulty in Golflink!Off to Gainsborough Greens this weekend

ParticipantWe didn’t get wet, it was lovely weather while we played
A hail storm ripped through just a few minutes after we left so good timing!I finished with 17 and 11 for 28
Putting was atrocious as I kept blasting my first putts long and just missing the downhill dribblers coming back
5 3 putts I thinkEven with that I looked like I might squeeze out a half decent score until I wiped the par 3 14th and then my tee shot on 15 disappeared for no apparent reason for another wipe and that was that
It’s a tricky course and some shots around and on the green are impossible unless you hit the flag
Good funBut that’s the event over – back to work reality today ?
Panda did a great job as always and the company, golf and dinners each night were fantastic

ParticipantNoosa Springs today
Somehow off 9 while Caloundra is 10!?!Started really poorly with only 6 points after 5 holes
But no wipes and bought it back and finished with 33 points – 15 front 18 back2 birdies on 9 and 11
Not a flag
Last game of the trip tomorrow at Maleny off 8 – hope to have a good round as I’m dropping a played to 10 flag
Good luck at Maleny – the rough will likely be UP:)
Thanks
I think it is also going to be a bit damp!Weetbix

ParticipantPlayed. Caloundra today off 10
The fact I got more shots at Caloundra than at Palmer Coolum and than I will tomorrow at Noosa Springs proves there is something very wrong with the slope and scratch system!Had 37 points and 80 off the stick
Driver was slicey but the rest of the game was pretty decent
No birdies but 10 pars and only 1 double meant the score was goodWeetbix
ParticipantPalmer Coolum off 10 today
17 and 15 for 32
86 effectively off the stick but wiped 10 before reaching the green3 birdies on the former PGA course was the good news
Only 4 pars though so plenty of not goodWhat a course though – you feel the pressure on every shot
Water on most holes
Challenging off the tee
Almost never a wide safe zone anywhere although it’s not super tight
Plenty of places you don’t want to miss on the approaches
Plenty of bumps and angles on the greensThe greens were pretty average after being cored 3 weeks ago
But it’s a great golf courseHaven’t played there since they changed the layout, or basically since Palmer became involved. Back in the day I always had a 10th tee start into a heavy southeaster, or so it seemed. Real tough first three holes with that wind.
I believe tgey have reversed the 9s since then
The iconic PGA finishing hole is not the 9th
