I was wondering about the three putts. Was putt #1 a long one ( equivalent to a chip length) ? I don’t think all 3 putts are equal. Three misses from 4m is a bad result, but 3 misses from 30 m isn’t the same thing, process wise that is.

So you scored in the low 80’s Weetbix? Only hitting 4/14 fairways. Does that mean you were in the light rough or in deep shit on the 10 you missed? You must be good at recovery shots. On the GIR, did you par/ birdie them? Still 33 is a respectable score .

I find in my game getting a GIR doesn’t mean I am any more likely to par the hole. It usually means I have a long first putt, which i usually fail to get close to the pin.

    We live in hope.

Gee Talart, it must have been a tough lock down having to only stick to playing the Robe course!
We poor Victorians were protected from harm on the fairways by our Illustrious Leader. Thank heavens for Dan’s foresight.
Still many of us resorted to playing in paddocks, for exercise purposes only, of course. I’d love to pop over to Robe for a few days, but it seems State Premiers are hell bent on sending our country broke with prolonged border closures.

Xman, that video is set to private.

I suspect that you’ll remain more intelligent by not watching it.

Boomers are loving this time with the internets and hindsight* and knowledge.

Sorry I didn’t realize that the video was locked. Contrary to your assertion, watching these thought provoking interviews will actually broaden your understanding of events. The English interviewer is very professional. His guests are from a wide range of scientific areas of expertise. Check the videos out on You Tube.

I reckon it depends on how far out from the green I am. If I am 190m out that puts me right on the upper limit with my 4 wood.
I guess I would be thinking

    1) is it sitting up and begging to be hit, or a poor lie?
    2) where is the trouble up there? Bunkers, trees short at the landing zone
    3) Am I striking the ball well today?
    4) where will my miss hit go? ( right for fade/ left for draw)
    5) Am I feeling lucky punk? ( think Clint Eastwood) is the risk / reward ratio worth the possible poor shot trying for a 100% effort swing.

Inside 170 m for me is a whole new situation. I know I can hit my 5 W fairly accurately form there.

Then the question is what sort of lay up? Do you bang it down as far as you can and have a shorter chip/ pitch onto the green, which might end up closer to the pin? Or do you hit the first shot such that you have your best full shot distance into the green?

Hero shots; I am better at fades than draws out of trouble. I usually ask myself where a straight shot will go with this club. If it is into the opposite side trees, I punch out.

Spreading this type of heresy could make me a marked man in the Socialist Republic of Victoria.

The audio is poor, but the content makes sense.
At the end there is a sobering section for baby boomers to think on . Hair dye anyone? My guess is that the GST will rise by 5% and death taxes will be reintroduced to pay for the lock down

I have been playing at Royal Bridgewater ever since Comrade Dan closed our golf courses.
The course is set on the rolling hills overlooking the picturesque Discovery Bay. The winds can prove to be a challenge, a bit like Pt. Fairy. The course itself is challenging , with hidden bunkers and concealed rock hazards. Being mainly couch grass fairways and the sporadic tufted grass in the deep rough, it punishes wayward shots. The greens would have to be the most difficult I have ever experienced, being almost impossible to read. We did complain to the course committee, but the sheep didn’t see the problem. The gallery of poorly behaved crows also proved to be a disruption. We again complained to the match committee about the crows unruly behaviour , but they stonewalled us.

In summary, this course has great potential but will need a lot of work to improve to match Pt Fairy as a links style course. The green fees are quite low, so maybe the gift horse’s oral investigation should be avoided.

The loss of police officers’ lives continued over the border in S.A. The accident happened on Cross Road, a very busy narrow road that I have often used . It appears that a driver chose not to share the road safely, resulting in a pile up.

Once the S. A. border is open and we no longer need to self isolate for 2 weeks we will be heading over to Adelaide. Our village is Covid -19 free to date, but I think I might have to take the risk of relocating to the city for a while to get a game of golf in.

Of course, Comrade Dan might relent and let us exercise in the open air and hit some gold balls. I have been doing it anyway on the farm and no-one has died as a result. At least the States that are matching S.A. restrictions are moving towards an evidence based protocol. I find it interesting that the media are not pointing out that the relaxation of measures is only matching how S.A. dealt with the lock down all along.

Come the revolution (election) hopefully Comrade Dan and his cadre will be unemployed. Hopefully some time before that our golf courses will be open again. There is no evidence to support banning outdoor exercise with social distancing. BTW minimum distance should be at least 2m based on studies to avoid contamination by droplet/aerosol of normal breathing. 8 m if you cough/sneeze and the virus hangs around in the air for 3 hours.

Very much obsolete now, except that part that they are still south of the border and are moving up to the northern states in record numbers.

    Embrace it Hombre

Thereby increasing the average IQ of both States.

Why is it that when we try for a safe shot off the tee, we manage to hook/ slice it into the very trouble were are trying to avoid?

Down to 18.3 after a reasonable round today, so some downward trend at last.
