The USGA announcement of a new national championship, the US Senior Women’s Open, brings a vision to me of two women’s national champions hoisting their trophies side-by-side.  It also surely brings cheers from that huge over-50 population of amateur women golfers who’ve waited some time to see this happen, and an enthusiastic round of applause as well from the more than 6 million women of all ages who are finding in golf their game of a lifetime.
