Young Mossman golf pair ready to tee off in USA
THEY may not have been Born In The USA but soon they will be Kids in America doing their country proud.
Mossman brothers Couper Smith, 10 and Wade Duncan, 15 are about to hit the world stage in late July when they join the elite of Junior golfers in America.
They have been hand-picked to represent Australia in two international events in the USA, the World Junior Championships in Las Vegas and the inaugural Junior Olympic Championships in California.
“It’s unusual for two brothers to qualify and a dream come true for our family,” said proud dad Matthew Smith.
“It’s the pinnacle and hopefully it will spur them onto a bigger and better career.
“Both of them want to make a career out it”
The boys received the invitation shortly after they competed in the Australian Junior Age Division Championships held in Yeppoon.
While neither of them won their division they both received a wildcard entry into the Australian Junior Golf Team.
“We got a letter that said based on their playing ability and conduct on and off the course they had been invited to join the team,” said Mr Smith.
“We were so excited and so proud.
